According to ESPN’s Dan Rafael, Cuban prodigy Guillermo Rigondeaux (3-0 3 Kos) will headline Lou DiBella’s “Broadway Boxing” card from BB King Blues Club & Grill in Midtown Manhattan in the 8-round main event.
Rigondeaux, who defected this year, is one of the most decorated boxers in the history of amateur boxing. He won gold medals in the 2000 and 2004 Olympics and won two amateur World Championships. Despite only three professional bouts to his name, many expect Rigondeaux to challenge for a Super Bantamweight title sometime in 2010. At 29 years old and with roughly 250 amateur bouts, many wonder if his best days were spent fighting for Cuba. The answer to that question should come soon enough.
Also scheduled to appear on the card are Tor Hamer, Joelo Torres and Luis Del Valle.
